Disneyland is for Adults too

A couple weeks ago I went to Disneyland with some girlfriends. WITHOUT BABIES! Let me just say, it was the most fun I have had in a LONG time!

A Little Preview of the Photo Shoot...

On Monday, we did a photo shoot for holiday cards/Mariah's birthday with our fabulous friend Kate. Here's a little preview of the shoot (possibly more to come, don't want to spoil the surprise for the holiday cards!). Enjoy!

Sister Update #3

I just wanted to update you on Tanya's situation. She wanted to thank everyone for their prayers during this difficult time. Thank you to all those who helped them have a great Christmas!

Things are looking up for them.

Resolutions

Happy New Year! I'm sure this post will be just a little cliched but as it's New Year's Day, I thought I was due for a little reflection on this past year. I wanted to evaluate how well I did on last year's resolutions and make new ones for the year.

Christmas 2009

This year we spent Christmas at Brian's parents' new home in Boston. It was so fun but oh so cold!

Happy 3rd Anniversary!

We have had such a hard time doing something special whenever December 30th comes around because it is right in the middle of the holidays. But we actually celebrated our anniversary this year! Let me tell you a little of what we did to commemorate our 3rd year of marriage.

Merry Christmas 2009

I wanted to take a minute to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!
Since members of my family were having such a hard time right now, we decided to forgo sending out Christmas cards this year. Instead, we spent the money we would have used on postage on a worthier cause. And we are sending you a Christmas blog post instead!

The Many Faces of Brian

Not many readers knew that Brian observed Mo-vember this year. If you are unfamiliar with the term, it means that one grows a mustache without shaving for the ENTIRE month of November to supposedly raise awareness for prostate cancer (or just for fun). So during the past few weeks, Brian has been growing out handlebars for the cause, getting more ... burly ... as the weeks progressed. But as the amount of residual food getting stuck in his hair increased (and as the kisses from me decreased), we decided that the 'stache had worn out its welcome. We needed our marriage back :)

So here are some rare photos of Brian saying goodbye to the 'stache in a 6-step manner.

Miller 2nd Annual Fondue Party

A few weeks ago we held the Miller 2nd Annual Fondue Party. We had so many people (50+)! It was lots of fun with lots of good food. We served 2 cheese fondues (Swiss-mushroom and cheddar) and 2 dessert fondues (chocolate and caramel). It got us in the holiday mood!

Putting up Christmas

Now that Thanksgiving is over, we only have 3 weeks in our apartment to celebrate Christmas before we go to Boston!

Eating our Decorations: Ornamental Indian Corn

Since Thanksgiving's over, we're taking down all remnants of Fall decor in our apartment. Brian came across some mini Indian corn and decided to eat it!

Thanksgiving 2009

Because of the tight school schedule (and the fact that flying anywhere to visit family would cost Brian and me our first-born son), we decided to stay local for Thanksgiving. Instead, we invited my sister Shanna and her kids down from Sacramento for the weekend. We also invited my other sisters but no body could make the trip.

And then as a fabulous Thanksgiving surprise: Angel drove from Utah via a midnight bus ride to complete the holiday splendor. She called when she was only an hour away from LA! It was a complete surprise. The best I've had all year!

Saying Goodbye to the Holidays

This Christmas season was lots of fun! It was our last time in California (unless we do our own next year). Christmas 09 will be in Boston! Maybe we'll finally see a white Christmas...

Christmas with the Millers 2008

Christmas 2008 was a very special year for the Millers because Claude and Marlena are moving to Boston in January, which makes this their last Christmas in their home in California. We were sad that this was the final holiday celebrated in the house that Brian grew up in and the last time to ever be there, but we tried to make it our best Christmas yet. One thing we did was start a new tradition of making chocolate fondue on Christmas Eve. Maybe next year we'll add in other kinds, like cheese, which is my favorite. We also played lots of games. My new favorite card game is Hand and Foot. I can't believe we stayed up til 2 in the morning on Christmas Eve in a grilling battle: Brian and Marlena verses Claude and me. The winner is still inconclusive because we never finished (until next year...).

The highlight of Christmas by far: my iPhone. I am so stoked! I have been coveting Brian's for months and now I finally have my own. Not to mention our other presents, in particular Guitar Hero World Tour, camera stuff, and a sweet Kitchenaid mixer. This was the best Christmas ever. I haven't been surprised by a present in a VERY long time.

It was fun seeing all of Brian's friends from his home ward again and for the last time. I'm sure it was a little on the depressing side for Brian to say goodbye to his house. But we still have family and friends in that area, so we will still visit when we can!

We hope you had a merry Chirstmas too!
