Putting Up Christmas

Yes, we are one of the few families that put up Christmas right after Halloween. It's mostly Veronica's doing actually. The reasons behind it: Christmas is the best holiday ever (we have the 10 G of Christmas music on our computer to prove it), and there's never enough time in just December to celebrate it. Plus we still travel during the season so we need extra time to make up for the wasted time during travel. This year not only did we put up our tree (with fake presents underneath to make it look more festive), we also made this lit garland as a family project (yes, Mariah helped too). It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Ready for the Lakers Season

Mariah loves to sport Lakers paraphernalia to show her undying devotion. Actually, she looks a little scared, doesn't she? Sorry Mariah, there is a lot more Lakers stuff to come! I would just get used to it.

7 Weeks Old!

She's getting so big! We got this dress for Thanksgiving, hopefully she'll still fit it by then! It's the first one she's worn so far. We thought we should treat Mariah with a new outfit, considering she hasn't been feeling well lately. She is just getting over a little cold she's had all week. But she is a trooper and is getting better so fast! Other than that, things are great. last night she even slept for 4 1/2 hours straight!! But it was only because we let her sleep in bed with us. I doubt she'll give us that much sleep again. And I don't want her to get used to sleeping with us, bad habit to get into!

A BLACK President??

I'm still in shock. It seemed like a long shot that Obama would actually win. Then it was a land slide. Obama will bring great change to this country; whether good or bad, I'm not sure yet. I am excited to see history in the making though. Hopefully he will stay true to some of his campaign promises. This country needs some help.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween was so much fun this year because we celebrated it twice!

First, we dressed up last week for Brian's single's ward's Halloween party. Brian was a soldier, I was Lamar Odom, and Mariah was a pumpkin. We painted pumpkins and Brian won a doughnut-eating contest.

Then on Halloween, we carved pumpkins (even Mariah carved one), went to an intramural football game and then gave candy to our TWO trick-or-treaters (the neighbors upstairs). All in all, a very good holiday for us, and the very first for Mariah.

Bath Time "Fun"

Many parents use bath time as a way to sooth and calm their babies. For Mariah it's the opposite. Nothing gets her more fired up than a bath! Here you can see how her baths slowly turn her into any mother's nightmare. If it weren't for sanitary reasons, I would never willingly subject her to this much discomfort. Right now the only thing she enjoys about baths is drinking a little water when we rinse her off. Hopefully this will be something she just grows out of. I hope she likes them later. Until then...we keep them as short as possible!

Trip to Temple Square

This Saturday we went to Temple Square in Salt Lake City for the wedding of a good friend, Erik Gunson. It was Mariah's first whole day away from home. Everyone at the wedding thought she was the cutest thing and couldn't believe how small she was! We ended up forgetting the stroller and had to carry her around in her heavy car seat all day! But all in all it was a very fun day. Mariah liked being outside.

Mariah is 1 Month Old

Mariah is a month old! She is now 19 inches long and weighs 7 lbs. She's working on lifting her head, though she absolutely hates her tummy practice time. She's still eating about every 2-3 hours, day and night. We're anxiously awaiting the day she'll sleep more through night, for our own sanity. It's so hard constantly only getting sleep in 2-hour increments.

It has definitely been the hardest but most rewarding month of our lives. Mariah is such a blessing and trouble at the same time. It is so amazing to see her look around and know that she is trying to figure everything out. We can already tell she's going to be an amazing person!
