Things to Do in Utah before We Move to California

I am currently compiling a list of things to do in Utah before we move to California. I realized that I had hardly done anything! I don't have much on the list currently, but I am open for suggestions!

The list so far:
  1. Visit the first ever KFC chain restaurant surprisingly located in Salt Lake City (Well, visit its remains. It was just demolished in December 2008 and replaced by a commemorative museum).
  2. Hike the Y (Pictured above, BYU's "Y" is proudly painted in the nearby mountain. I have morbidly protested "hiking" to this point for my entire experience at BYU. However now that I'm leaving, I should give it a shot. It's better than hiking Timp!).
  3. Go skiing (Nope, never done anything in the snow really. I want to try both skiing and snowboarding. I'm sure Im going to hurt myself. Hopefully it's not too late for this!).
  4. Eat at the Mayan Restaurant (I hear that you HAVE to go if you are in Utah. The restaurant features divers in tanks around you. Should be cool).
  5. Visit Zion's National Park and Goblin Valley.
  6. Go to the Zoo and Aquarium in SLC (Apparently they have a living "liger" there).

Well, hiking to the Y is something to do to say you have done it, but honestly, it is tedious and not that pretty. You would be better off hiking the Timpanoeke trail that goes to the top of Timp, and only go some of the way. It is pretty, shaded for a lot of it, and has waterfalls. (Jeff could give you details).
Definitely go to Zions, Goblin Valley, and any of that down there that you can. And, the zoo is nice (small, but decent) and I have heard the aquarium is tiny. I have never seen a liger at the zoo though. Hmmmm... is that new?

Okay, go to the Mayan to see the divers but bring your own food-it's flavorless blah.
I need to make a list too! We're pretty sure we're going to leave in May. When are you guys heading to Ca and what city?

I just heard that they hired new chefs at the Mayan. Ive been there before and the food wasnt great but its supposed to be better now so if you go let me know how it is!

Hiking the Y has it's own purpose. My favorite trip was a summer evening to the top for the sunset. It gives you a great view of where you've been these years.
Let me know if you'd like to go to the children's museum- I have a pass.
Oh, the aquarium is small, but you can pet rays, so that's kind of unique. I hear there might be a new jungle exhibit there.
Have fun with your list!

V- you have to get down to Zions. It is absolutely beautiful (and let's face it, I'm not really a hiker myself). Goblin Valley is also very very cool. You have a LOT to do before you leave. Better start packing it in. . . also, once you get to LA, make sure you begin the "dos" right away. . . otherwise there's no way to fit it all in. (I'll give you some great ideas). We are so excited for you! Trust me,. . . you'll be seeing a lot of Laisa and baby!
