Happy Valentine's Day, well more like Valentine's week! We had lots of Valentine-sy things going on this week.
Brian started it off by surprising me on Tuesday night. He came to to door with flowers! He said he just wanted to say hi really quick before basketball (he has Scouts and then basketball on Tuesdays and I have girls night when he's gone). He's so sweet!
On Thursday, Mariah and I went to a Valentine exchange party with all the kids and mommies from church. Here's a picture of us in all the chaos!
It was cute to see Mariah give all her sweathearts and Disney valentines away to all the different mail boxes set up (though next year I'll be more prepared and have something better than a grocery bag for Mariah's valentines, oops!). She got lots of candy, which she's happy about. She loves suckers right now.
On Friday Brian and I went to a dinner and a movie. We shared nachos and a milkshake at the Applebee's bar, it was fun doing something different, plus it was right next to the theatre. Then we went to see Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (longest name for a movie EVER!). I liked it better than I thought I would (though I had low expectations)! It's kind of like Harry Potter but with a Greek mythology twist. Brian and I had just read the book (we're now on the 2nd one) so we were curious as to how the movie would turn out.
On Saturday, we stayed at home while the Townsends went out to their dinner and a movie (we did a babysitting swap, their toddler is just a month and a half behind Mariah). They went to go see Valentine's Day and said it was really funny, so we'll have to go see it sometimes soon.
Then I thought I would try my hand at surprises (but note: I had this plan way before Brian gave me flowers!). So I woke up at 5:30 AM on Sunday morning to heart-attack Brian's sink with memories and reasons why I love him (complete with Reese's candies). Funny thing, he didn't even realize it until he got in the shower after breakfast at 8:00! But he liked it just the same.
I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's Day this year, or Singles Awareness Day, whichever you celebrate.
