This Saturday we went to our church's Christmas party. It's hard for most people to grasp the awesomeness of LDS folks: we all pitch in! We hardly had any budget for this party, but everyone gave a little and it turned out amazing. The Young Women were in charge of decorating; they did up the church gym with almost all homemade decor. And we fed all 300 guests almost completely from a sign-up sheet basis, amazing. For dinner, we had a ham with "funeral potatoes" and salad and apple and pumpkin pie for dessert.
After dinner, we had a nativity program. It was fun to see all our friends in costume. Shanell did a great job as Mary.
Then we had a few talented girls (Sydney and Erin) from our Primary class sing "Away in a Manger". I was impressed, they busted out a two-part harmony (I'm their proud ex-teacher, now I am in YW *tear*).
I got to be part of the angel choir: we sang Christmas carols during the program.
THEN SANTA CAME!!
{Yes, we even we Mormons have a soft spot for Santa when it comes to Christmas parties}
I am so proud of Mariah, she was a natural on Santa's knee, she smiled the whole time and was excited (not scared) to see him.
Merry Christmas!
