Tooth Update #3: Bottom Braces

One word: OUCH

Yesterday I got brackets and a wire on my bottom teeth. Talk about pain! Everyone always talks about how painful braces are, it's true! It's not just pain in the gums, it is a very real pain radiating from your teeth. I can't put any pressure on my teeth or I feel like I'm chewing glass. I'm open to suggestions for lessening the pain.

the only thing i can remember helping was chewing sugarfree gum right after they tightened the wires. and take pain meds right after you get out of the office...maybe even before. get wax to cover the brackets to help the inside of your checks from getting rubbed raw.

once you get these things off...ALWAYS wear your retainer :) i need to get some bottom braces back on because i just neglected to wear my retainer. braces twice...sheesh :)

Didn't you say something about still having giving birth pain pills? It'll get better soon! Just hang in there!

Acutally, chewing helps. I know, it's totally painful. The truth is, wait a few days and it's not so bad. I found that after the first few days, if I tried to eat normally I was fine....but hey, whatever works for you. Smoothies are yummy, right?
