This weekend we had some visitors! Brian's parents Claude and Marlena flew in from Boston and Christie from Utah. We had a full house! On Wednesday, we picked up Claude and Marlena from the airport and then checked out the San Pedro pier (....not a whole lot there....) and then had a fabulous barbecue (Brian and Claude on the grill).
Here Brian is about to put the drumsticks on the grill. I have to say that I am proud of myself, I actually ate a *tiny* bit :)
Grandma and Mariah spending some quality time together.
Mariah's never afraid to get her hands dirty.
On Thursday, we picked up Christie from the airport and drove around South Pasadena, trying (but failing) to get into the Huntington Library for free. Instead we stumbled upon Lacie Park!
Brian's trying to play tag with Mariah.
And then we tried to teach Mariah how to climb trees.
It was a fun day at the park!
Then we went *sans Mariah* to the Arroyo Chop House in Pasadena. It is an amazing steakhouse! And can I please just confess:
I BROKE LENT
Big time. I had apple pie, chocolate soufflee, cookies and icecream, and raspberry cheesecake. It was the best way to break the rules!
Here's a picture of the apple pie before we devoured it. I wish I would have taken pictures of all of it. But we ate it too fast :)
On Friday we went to the zoo.
We saw lions and tigers and bears (oh my!).
And we saw turtles.
And giraffes (did you know their tongues are black?).
We thought this sign was funny: "Don't feed to popcorn to hungry carnivores"
Mariah did pretty well during the *five hours* we were there! She's such a trooper :)
Then we checked out the Griffith Observatory. It was such a beautiful day! We had a great view up there.
Mariah learned lots about the stars.
On Saturday, we went to Christie's friend Melissa's baby shower in Long Beach.
They had some really cool games. I won the Musical Cups/Chug the Sippy game.
Then we sculpted bubble gum babies.
I was really proud of mine.
It was a fun shower!
And a really fun weekend. Thanks for the visit :)
