For Thanksgiving this year, we stayed in LA! We had a potluck with friends at the church building. I was in charge of the turkey, stuffing, and a pie (yes, a bit ambitious, especially since we ended up bringing a bunch of extra stuff!). Luckily, my good friend Joan knows how to DEEP FRY turkeys and made one for us.
Here is Brian carving up the deep-fried bird. This turkey was SOOO good, it was so moist and flavorful! Deep fried is definitely the way to go (just don't burn your house down.... get a professional).
Here is the beautiful table, decorated by Shanell (who planned the event).
Another picture of the table. We had about 20 people there, including kids.
Melissa made the cute candy turkeys made out of trail mix and pipe cleaners. Mariah had a kick out of them!
Here we are, about to chow down (if you look closely you can see Brian and me and the back!). The food was awesome. The turkey was delicious, the stuffing *almost* right (can't make it like my mom!).
The tryptophan has kicked in...
Later that evening, I thought I would try my luck at Black Friday shopping, my first time! Mandy, Melissa, Erica and I went to Old Navy in the mall to score some good deals. We first were waiting outside the mall with everyone else and then saw that a door was open. So we went inside to just wait by the store. When the mall officially opened at 11:30pm, all of a sudden, a HORDE of people just started running through all the entrances. I thought I was suddenly in a zombie movie!! Grown adults were falling over each other, it was pretty surreal. I actually won an Xbox dance game (that I took back to Wal-Mart and made $55!) for waiting in the cold line outside. A fun nite!
(Thanks for the pictures Erica!)
