My Sister's Update

Hello all,

First off, I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and donations to my sister Tanya. I wanted to share some more information on her situation.

Her husband Shawn was dismissed from his externship for several reasons, one being that he was born with cerebral palsy, giving him a unique learning style. He was treated very unfairly at Albany Hospital and because of all the complaints, they dismissed him. Since then, Shawn has been fighting to be reinstated into the program, and it is currently up for discussion.

Tanya wanted me to share with you her email from this morning:

Ronnie,

Why are you making me cry again before work? Thank you for fasting for us yesterday. Shawn's extern coordinator from Klamath Falls did contact him yesterday and they spoke for about an hour about his situation. She expressed her desire to see Shawn graduate, especially since he is so close (only two terms away). She said her and the board are in support of Shawn, but she now will have to find a hospital to transfer him to. So basically she had a few places where she thought Shawn would get the best help from the lead techs. Those places she mentioned were Grants Pass, Medford, and Klamath Falls. This doesn't mean that he is back in the Radiology Program, but it does mean she is trying to reinstate him. She has to call those three hospitals and see if there is any way those sites will take on another extern student. There may be light at the end of the tunnel. We will not know until the end of the month.

If he is able to be transfered and reinstated into the Radiology Program, that means that he will temporarily move (the next 6 months) to that site. We have already discussed that, and I will stay here in Albany with the kids. We don't want to uproot the kids again, and I do have a job here. It will be unbelievably hard to do this, but like Shawn said, after these 6 months, we have the rest of our lives to spend together, and we are both willing to make the sacrifice.

Thank you so much to everyone who is keeping us in your prayers, it means the world to us. Thank you for your kind words and support. If you could specifically pray that one of those 3 hospitals will accept Shawn that would be so wonderful.

God Bless, Tanya

Thank you all for helping to give Tanya's family a wonderful Christmas. Let's continue to pray that everything works out for them. Please pass this message along to keep people aware.

We're still taking donations to be sent to help her for Christmas and/or rent money for the month. If you would like to contribute money, clothing, and/or toys, please email me at VeronicaCMiller@gmail.com.

Merry Christmas everyone!

and those 6 months will fly. when matt and i were first married, he was in the fire academy. it was a live IN academy 3 hours away. it began 2 weeks after we got back from our honeymoon. we lived apart the first 6 months of our marriage. it was hard, but you make it through.
