(according to my orthodontist, I have "severe overcrowding").
Let me just tell you in the beginning, I have had GREAT aversions to dental offices ever since last November when I had to get all NINE cavities (yes, nine! I developed ALL OF THEM while having Mariah) filled in ONE WEEK! Getting multiple shots to the gums every day for a whole week would be a traumatic experience for anyone.
On a side note, for those of you who are pregnant or considering it, TAKE CALCIUM! I took a prenatal vitamin almost everyday of my pregnancy and look what happened to me. I later realized that my particular vitamin only included 30% of daily need of Vitamin D and calcium. So don't take chances, there's no such thing as getting too much calcium. Here's a little prenatal lesson: if you don't get enough nutrients, your baby won't suffer, YOU WILL SUFFER. Babies take whatever they need nutritionally from your body, and then you will be the one left as scrap metal. So learn from my mistake!
Any way, I went into Dr. David Gardner's (Sean's dad) office yesterday morning. I was so scared! But he's a very good dentist, very professional. He used techniques to minimize the pain of getting shots, I was impressed. I even had to get a few extra shots because I wasn't numb enough when they started pulling.
If you have never had the wonderful experience of getting your teeth pulled, allow me to try to describe what it feels and sounds like. Imagine trying to pull a stubborn nail out of a piece of wood with the back side of a hammer. That same vile screeching, pulling noises can be heard in your mouth! And even though you're numb, you can still feel all the tugging! It is very disturbing, especially doing it four times.
Then came the fun part. I came home and then the shots started wearing off. It was an interesting day. I only slurped two bowls of ice cream and soup all day. But I was brave enough to have lasagna for dinner (thanks Paige!)
After i came home, I took pictures of my tender state. I think I look mildly like the Octo-Mom, what do you think?
Here are the holes.
I'm trying to smile even though I couldn't feel the bottom half of my face.
Day 2, back to normal for the most part.
Here was my trouble tooth. I got a root canal on it in high school and has hurt ever since. The dentist said it needed a crown, but it worked out to just get it removed instead.
All of my removed teeth. Now they go to Brian to experiment on for dental school.

i actually had to get four permanant teeth pulled too...but back in high school. no fun, but it's all worth it in the end :)
Okay, I totally hate going to the dentist and that description of getting them pulled out - ugh! I found myself clenching my teeth! You are a brave woman!
yeah, so that looks/sounds SO painful!!! You're so brave!!! Hopefully the tooth fairy will come.
I know what you mean about the cavities - I thought I had a lot with 3. NINE?! And I can't have shots since I'm allergic to the medicine. Let's just say it was...oh so fun. Well, congrats on getting your teeth out. I actually had a few removed when I was kid for the same reason. Totally sucks. Hope you feel better. :)
I just had a tooth extracted 3 months ago. it had broken all the way off though so it took him 20 mins just to get the one out and he had to do A LOT of digging around. It was one of the most painful experiences ever! Sorry dude. Hope you are feeling at least 50% better!
